The AKO Caine Prize for African Writing is delighted to have been able to celebrate the talent of our 2021 shortlisted writers with a celebratory series of events spearheaded by this year’s Events Manager, Ms Sarah Ozo-Irabor.
Our series of events began on Tuesday 13th of July and concludes tonight, Monday 26th of July at 5pm BST, when the winner will be announced.

Rebel Women Lit x AKO Caine Prize for African Writing
Date: Tuesday 13th July, at 7pm BST.
Jherane Patmore, founder of Rebel Women Lit, a Jamaica-based literary community with members across the world, will chair this not-to-be-missed conversation with the AKO Caine Prize finalists.
Writing the Uganda Story with:
Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, Doreen Baingana, and Iryn Tushabe

A cross-national conversation with award-winning Ugandan women writers, Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi (UK), Doreen Baingana (Uganda), and Iryn Tushabe (Canada) in which they will explore the concept of 'home’, and how it is reflected and represented in their respective writings.

Iryn Tushabe in conversation with Trevor Herriot at Penny University Bookstore

Canadian novelist Trevor Herriot will chair this conversation with Iryn Tushabe in which they discuss her AKO Caine Prize shortlisted story, 'A Separation' at the iconic Penny University Bookstore in Saskatchewan, Canada.
